Throughout the month of July there are plenty of opportunities for students interested in STEM! We’ve collected a list of eight opportunities focused on science, technology, engineering, and math. Below is a collection of scholarships, hackathons, webinars, internships, research opportunities, and programs that will either be held this month or have applications open/due this July.
On July 2, 2024, Aurora Scientific will host a 45-minute virtual demonstration on the dissection, tissue preparation, and mounting of cardiac trabeculae using their 1500A small intact muscle system. The session will cover basic mechanics experiments, best practices, experimental setup, and include a live Q&A, showcasing the 1500A's capabilities for testing the tensile and mechanical properties of various muscles. In this webinar, Dr. James E. The role of the broadcast engineer is evolving, with growing expectations to provide lighting direction and maintenance in broadcast productions. This four-part course is designed to enhance the engineer’s knowledge of lighting, covering essential aspects of lighting for studios, light perception fundamentals, the use of lighting tools, and practical studio lighting techniques. IDEA MATH's 2024 Summer Online Math Challenges Program offers rigorous math courses from Math Challenges A through 6, focusing on algebra, combinatorics, geometry, and number theory. Classes are conducted via Zoom with small group sizes to foster collaborative problem-solving and are led by experienced instructors versed in competition-level mathematics. NSF staff will host a webinar for those interested in applying to the BIO REU Sites program (solicitation NSF 23-601). The webinar will be held on July 9, 2024, from 3 to 4 p.m. EST. During the webinar, program officers will present the BIO Research Experience for Undergraduates Sites (BIO REU Sites) program and discuss the details of the NSF 23-601 solicitation.
